Unplugged Project: Rocks

For the Unplugged Project: Rocks, Mom was really at a loss. Feeling the need to do something simple she uncovered an old bag of decorative plant rocks she once bought at Ikea, but never used. Kiddo's eyes widened with glee when he saw the bag and Mom thought,"wow, being lazy has its rewards."

There was no planned activity, Mom and Kiddo sat down at Kiddo's table while he played with the Rocks. He especially enjoyed lining them up, banging them together, checking out their color variations, trying to stack them and banging them on the table. Mom suggested that they each try to see how quietly they could put the rocks down. Believe it or not, that worked.

Simplicity is good.

  1. Sometimes I like exploration activities more than the big productions...sounds like your son had a great time exploring the many qualities of your rocks!

  4. Yes simple is good - its amazing how little it takes to entertain sometimes (and how much it takes at other times!)

  5. I prefer to think of simple activities like exploring rocks as "creative" instead of lazy. Simple works the best for us too, and as long as Kiddo has fun, it's a success. Good job, Mom!
