Today's
Unplugged Project was "wood," and Mom decided, instead of making something, as is her usual M.O., to go for a walk in the
woods. OK, these are the urban woods, but they can have a charm of their own.

There are many different kinds of wood in the woods to discuss: trees, sticks, wood chip mulch that used to be Christmas trees (not a good idea to relive that traumatic moment in Kiddo's history). There are lots of different ways to think about wood: different barks have different textures, colors, roots in and above ground. Sticks have different thicknesses, lengths, throwing properties.

Sometimes there is a sign Spring is near:

Sometimes there is a sign a concrete path is near:

Sometimes you find a wood fort that someone else made and have a great time.
My kids would love to make a little fort out of branches like that, I'll have to remember for when our yard is not a wet sponge and we can get into our woods.

What a great walk! This was a fine idea for "wood(s)." I especially love that fort. That would be a cool "wood" project too. It looks like Kiddo (and Mom) had fun. Yeah!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the way you see your environment. Very cool take on the unplugged project... I haven't done ours yet but this may be the way to go with such a little one, Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI had thought about taking a walk in the wood(s) too, but never got around to it. Love your pictures - it looks like you two had a great time.
