While chopping up an apple core for the compost, I noticed that the seed pockets formed a lovely flower shape. I gave the pieces to Kiddo with some paint to do some printing. He especially liked how the stem made a natural handle, so he didn't have to get his hands messy (he's very fastidious). I'll be looking at my kitchen scraps in a new light.

Make sure you cut the apple cross-wise to find the blossom.
what amazing prints, love the colors he choose, very dramtic.
ReplyDeletethat came out really nice. I saw someone else did it, and they made apple shaped prints on a t-shirt.
ReplyDeletethat turned out very pretty, I love the colors you used.
ReplyDeleteWe call it a star in our house, but it's the same deal. :) I like your idea of how to cut the apple so it's easy to hold. When we did this I cut a whole apple cross-wise and it was very slippery and difficult for my 2-year-old to hold the entire half-sphere in her hand.
ReplyDeleteThey make really cool prints! Great idea :)
ReplyDeleteI just linked to your post here on my latest entry in a new blog I'm doing w. my SIL. She and I are sharing fun parenting ideas, so thanks for the fun one!
