In my previous life as the perfect parent (that would be before I had kids) I poo-pooed the idea of Storybooks on CD. "You should read to your kid! Not park them in front of the stereo!" Blah, blah. A few weeks ago I saw the books on CD at the library and thought "what the heck!" It turns out Kiddo loves them and now I am looking for longer and longer ones. Plus it's a good thing we only live 5 blocks from the library because in all that packaging, a stack of them can be heavy to carry!
And yes, he still wants me to read to him.

I particularly like to get books with CDs when the sound effects really add to the experience--like Eve Bunting's In the Haunted House.
You know I've been considering books on CD. Sherry (above) suggested then to me when we took our trip to the seachore--but I didn't get her comment until we were already home!
I just might have to consider them with a little more seriousness now. :)
Oooooo... you have a Barefoot Book there in that pic (the Gigantic Turnip)! I sell Barefoot Books and LOVE them. And I sell them because I love them, not the other way around. Here's my site, if you're curious: www.walksbarefoot.com. I'm a huge fan of the books on CD, and there are lots with singalong CDs, too (where the whole book is one big song). Both are quite popular with all the kids I've met, including my little guy.
